How Often Do You Change Air Filters
No one likes to change air filters. Imagine having to change your home air filters less. Most people will change an air filter when it looks dirty. While this may be an indicator it is not the best way to judge when to change the air filter. Dust and dirt on the air filter means this much dust and dirt did not get into the house. Air filters get better as they load with dirt. (See “How Filters Are Tested” according to ASHRAE standards) There are two things that need to be considered when making this judgment. One is, is the air filter slowing the air down to much and the other is, does the air filter have the ability to hold the dirt and dust once it is captured and not let it unload? The Filter By George will allow the dust and dirt to load through the depth of the media so when it looks dirty don’t panic. If you can still see the little funnels over the face of the filter it can go much longer. When the face of the funnels start to mat over then the air will slow down. When this happens over a good portion of the air filter it must be changed. You will notice that these air filters will start to last longer. This is because the air filter will gradually clean the house and there will be less dust and dirt. You will then have the indoor air quality (IAQ) you're seeking, a healthy home. A pleated air filter it must be changed when the face starts to cave in a little. Otherwise the air will go around the filter. (See “What Is Air By-Pass”). If you’re using a fiber glass air filter or what is sometimes called a furnace filter or a throw away filter (these are the ones that you can see through.) it needs to be changed more often. Even though the filter gets better as it traps more dust this type can’t hold the dust. The fibers will break off and let the dust and dirt pile up against the coils (heat exchanger which is a vital part of the HVAC system). This reduces the efficiency of the coils and you pay more than the cost of a good filter in electric bills. If you have other questions check the list at the bottom of the home page. BUY NOW
